Reality Show or Real Life – Trump Fires U.S. Attorney General Over Immigration Ban

Trump learns it is not easy to fire the presidential staff.

When Donald Trump was not happy with an “Apprentice” on his reality show he famously uttered the words “Your Fired!” It became both a meme and a catch phrase.

Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, a holdover from the Obama administration, said she wasn’t convinced the executive order is ‘lawful.’

You're Fired! sticky note.

Now, president Donald Trump has fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates on Monday night after she directed Justice Department lawyers not to defend his executive order on immigration. Apparently he was not happy with her view of upholding the law.

The word the Trump administration used was “Relieved”, saying it had “relieved” Yates — who was deputy attorney general in the administration of President Barrack Obama and stayed on as acting attorney general pending the confirmation of Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Alabama — and named Dana Boente, 63, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve in the meantime.

NOTE: Shortly after the firing, the Justice Department said that Boente had rescinded Yates’ directive. No surprise there.

AND:

President Donald Trump replaced the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday night, shortly after he fired the acting attorney general and getting a directive on the Immigration Ban he preferred.

Unlike the firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, the replacement of Acting ICE Director Daniel Ragsdale came with no explanation. Ragsdale was replaced by Thomas Homan.
